Statewide Trails Program
The California Conservation Corps is in a unique position to build up and restore the large network of trails in California’s State Parks. The Statewide Trails program guides this partnership and allows Corpsmembers to receive job training and career exposure in some of most beautiful landscapes in the state.
Since its start, the CCC has worked with California State Parks on trail construction and maintenance. In 2008, the CCC and California State Parks set up the CCC-California State Parks Trail Program to coordinate their efforts to produce high-quality trails and provide Corpsmembers with training and skills development. These projects are unique in the level of sponsor involvement and Corpsmembers are consistently recruited from Statewide Trails crews for full time positions with California State Parks.
Projects funded under this program typically include complex trail work but can also involve fuels reduction in state owned forests, or the restoration of campgrounds and other State Parks facilities. Although these activities often go unnoticed, they are essential in ensuring recreational access while protecting delicate natural systems.
