Toro Fire Crews Battle Creek Fire Near Shaver Lake

The fight against the Creek Fire in Fresno County is a personal one.

Especially for several CCC Los Padres Center Corpsmembers who grew up nearby, went hunting around Shaver Lake with family, and have friends with homes in the area.

The crews, known as Toro 1 and 2, are now in their third week of hiking steep terrain, hauling hose and hand tools, and protecting homes by building fire containment line.

The motivation to keep going is in plain—and sometimes painful—sight.
