SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Conservation Corps is celebrating the historic appointment by Governor Newsom of Larry Notheis as its new Senior Deputy Director.

Notheis is the first CCC Senior Deputy who started with the California Conservation Corps as a Corpsmember.

In 1988, Notheis enrolled as a Corpsmember at what was then the CCC Humboldt Center. He went on to work as an instructor for the Department of Defense, then returned to the CCC in 1997 as a Conservationist 1.

Over the next two decades he advanced to a Conservationist Supervisor, Conservationist II, District Director, and most recently to Regional Deputy Director.

In his new role as Senior Deputy Director, Notheis assists CCC Director Bruce Saito in formulating policies regarding project planning, budgetary decisions, and program implementation to achieve the CCC’s mission of enhancing and developing young adults through hard work and education. He also consults with and directs staff counsel and six division chiefs.

“I couldn’t be happier about the Governor’s appointment of Larry Notheis,” said Saito. “He brings a unique perspective to CCC’s Leadership Team through his first-hand knowledge of the Corpsmember experience.”

Notheis also has sat on four boards including: LatinoNet, the Salmonid Restoration Federation, NorCal Association of Non-Profits, and the Watershed Stewards Advisory Committee. He is a grandfather of four and lives in Sacramento with his wife, three dogs and one cat.
