Placer Center Renovations

Construction workers pour concrete for the new kitchen and multipurpose building at the CCC Placer Center in Auburn, CA in mid-February 2020.

The CCC Placer Center in Auburn has served as the residential home for thousands of Corpsmembers over the decades. But, not right now – that’s because the center is undergoing a $21.4 million renovation.

In mid-February, construction crews poured the first concrete for the new kitchen and multipurpose building. The 11,400 square foot building will house the kitchen, dining hall, and other offices.

About 100 Corpsmembers will call the new dormitories home. When completed, the building will be 17,900 square feet.

The project will also add solar panels, a loading dock, a new parking area, storm retention pond, and an outdoor basketball court. Additionally, 168,000 gallon water tank is being installed to aid in fire suppression for the area.

During construction Placer Center Corpsmembers are being housed at the nearby CCC Greenwood Center in El Dorado County.
