Montaña de Oro Pine Thinning

Corpsmember Brenzon Martell pulls tree limbs away from a fallen eucalyptus tree in Montaña de Oro State Park near Los Osos, CA.

CCC Los Padres Center Corpsmembers are looking out for the smallest of San Luis Obispo County’s native creatures. We’re talking about the Morro Shoulderband Snail, an endangered species whose natural habitat is on the decline.

Corpsmembers are cutting down invasive eucalyptus trees in and around Montaña de Oro State Park to help the snails and their habitat.

The project also protects against wildfire and makes the park’s trails safer.
