Clearing Hazards at Big Basin Redwoods State Park

Tahoe Center Corpsmembers use log tongs to lift trees downed by the CZU Lightning Complex fire. The crew moved the trees so that they would not become hazards to infrastructure below in Big Basin Redwoods State Park.

Rebuilding and rehabilitating after a massive wildfire can take years.

CCC Delta and Tahoe Corpsmembers are helping start the process at Big Basin Redwoods State Park in Santa Cruz County.

Armed with log tongs, chain saws, and McLeods, they’re helping protect damaged buildings from storm runoff and clear hazards along trails and hillsides.

Corpsmembers know every little bit makes a difference as they work to repair California’s oldest state park.
