Inland Empire Forestry Corps Gets Agricultural Lesson

This summer, our CCC Inland Empire Forestry Corps crew got some hands-on experience with an ancient agricultural technique known as Hügelkultur.

At the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, Corpsmembers helped construct mounds of dirt and decaying material as part of an experiment to see how well plants will grow.

It’s not all about fuel reduction in the Forestry Corps, it’s also a chance to learn new things—even if it’s an old thing.
