CCC Crews Deploy for Iowa Flood Recovery

Delta Corpsmember Carlos Mena undergoes respirator fit testing in preparation for the emergency response mission to Iowa. In flood recovery Corpsmembers may work in environments with unhealthy toxins or chemicals in the air and must wear proper personal protective gear.

The job is far away and the work is absolutely miserable. But, Corpsmembers are ready to don masks, put in long hours, and make a difference for dozens if not hundreds of Americans whose homes are destroyed.

A caravan of Delta and Ukiah Corpsmembers is driving to Shenandoah, Iowa, where for the next month they will help with flood recovery.

Muck and gut is the name of the job; clearing flooded homes of mud and debris, even the drywall. It will be rainy, humid, and no A/C. And our Corpsmembers, they are ready!
