Carr Fire Recovery & Erosion Control

Fortuna Corpsmember Zeontae Young lays hay atop fertilizer and grass seed in the Carr Fire burn area west of Redding.

Hay, grass seed, and fertilizer. Three simple, but essential ingredients for the earth to heal from a burn-scar. And, the scar left behind by July’s Carr Fire is huge.

The Western Shasta Resource Conservation District tasked CCC Corpsmembers to massage into the wound those three ingredients in and around neighborhoods and wildland in the Redding area.

Healing this community is not just hard work for these Corpsmembers, it’s personal.
