Keeping the Tahoe Basin Safer from Wildfire, One Lot at a Time

CCC Tahoe Corpsmembers use a wood chipper to get rid of cut brush and trees in the shadow of Echo Summit and the Caldor Fire burn scar in South Lake Tahoe.

The CCC Tahoe Center lives and works in the heart of the Tahoe Basin.

When last year’s Caldor Fire burned dangerously close to South Lake, Corpsmembers were among those evacuated and among those who helped slow the fire’s spread.

Working with our partner the California Tahoe Conservancy, Tahoe Corpsmembers have been clearing property throughout the area.

Work that prevented the Caldor Fire from doing more damage. It’s work they’re doing again, cutting as much of an acre of brush every day.
