It takes a small village of Corpsmembers to help keep a wildland firefighting base camp — like the one in Santa Maria on the #GiffordFire — running smoothly. The camp is as big, if not bigger, as the towns some Corpsmembers hail from.

The reasons for joining the CCC Backcountry Trails Program are different. The result of growing skills and growing self, that’s something all enrollees seem to find.
