Lake Tahoe Sugar Pine Planting

Three Tahoe Center Corpsmembers use hand tools to create openings in rough terrain to plant sugar pine seedlings near Kings Beach, CA.

Three seedlings at a time, CCC Tahoe Corpsmembers are helping regrow Lake Tahoe’s forests.

Corpsmembers are assisting UC Davis researchers plant thousands upon thousands of new sugar pines along the North Shore.

These new trees are cultivated from ones which survived drought and beetle infestation.

The project work recently landed Corpsmembers on the front page of the Los Angeles Times.
