Elkhorn Slough Habitat Restoration

A Monterey Bay Corpsmember prepares a native plant for the ground by removing it from its plastic container at the Elkhorn Slough Reserve in Moss Landing, CA.

When we say Miserable Conditions, we mean it. CCC Monterey Bay Corpsmembers slog through mud, and even water, just to plant new native species in the Elkhorn Slough.

It’s tough work, between the mud devouring boots and the up and down and back and forth required to get plants into the ground. Corpsmembers will plant thousands of new natives to make the marshland healthier.
