Crews Respond to Support Fire Basecamps

From Riverside County in the south to El Dorado County in the north, California Conservation Corps crews are supporting firefighting operations across the state.

Currently, ten crews are at four fires including the Briceburg Fire in Mariposa County—which is nearing full containment.

Corpsmembers spent last week at the Mariposa County fairgrounds making sure firefighters have all they need to get the wildland fire under control.

“Base camp, of course, doesn’t sound glamorous, but it’s supporting everyone on the line and everyone who’s doing their job to help keep people safe,” said Placer Center Corpsmember Sophia Hannegan of San Diego.

Corpsmembers are also assisting fire basecamp operations at the Caples Fire in El Dorado County, the Saddleridge Fire in north Los Angeles County, and the Sandalwood Fire in Riverside County.
