Helping Make Mendocino County Homes Fire Safe

Ukiah Corpsmembers use a wood chipper to reduce brush, tree limbs, and other vegetation as they create defensible space around a home in Redwood Valley in Mendocino County.

Project work in the CCC is more than just cutting down and chipping tree limbs and brush.

It’s work that leaves a positive, lasting impact on a community and keeps neighborhoods safer from wildfire.

The CCC Ukiah Center recently teamed up with the Mendocino County Fire Safe Council and PG&E to clear brush and prune back trees at the homes of low-income senior citizens and disabled residents.

It’s difficult, back-breaking work our neighbors wouldn’t be able to do without the help of Corpsmembers and our community partners.
