Certified corps can access funding opportunities, amplifying their impact.

Local Conservation Corps (LCCs) are non-profit or local government entities that share a similar mission as the CCC by providing job skills training and educational opportunities while preserving and protecting the environment. The CCC has a long history of working collaboratively with LCCs through the state certification program and CCC grant programs.

Local corps programs across California are welcome to seek certification with the CCC. Becoming a Certified Local Conservation Corps can help your organization access resources, develop, and grow. CCC can provide a pre-certification consultation to any aspiring corps, offering insight into the requirements and processes. Please email us to schedule a conversation and receive a copy of the LCC Certification Manual.

To be included in the annual certification schedule, local corps must submit a formal certification request via email to the CCC by June 30th and attend the required technical assistance workshops that are held in July.

LCC Certification Criteria

CCC’s annual certification process recognizes LCCs that are operating in accordance with mandatory statues, fulfilling the mission of the conservation corps program. An LCC must be certified by the State of California to be eligible for a variety of funding opportunities, including grants from the CCC and Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery. As part of the annual certification process, LCCs must meet the statutory criteria outlined in Public Resources Code section 14507.5 defining the elements of a “Community Conservation Corps”.
