“We have someone left behind (at camp) to cook dinner and just do chores around camp. Usually we’ll do two day rotations.”

Cameron Hinojosa
CCC Santa Maria Center

Oh, the amazing places our Corpsmembers can go. It may seem like they’re in their own neighborhood, but a trip up the coast for our CCC Santa Maria Corpsmembers is a pretty big deal.

They’re several hours away from home — often working in remote spots without cell service — hiking up steep grades, and seeing some of the most spectacular views on the coast.

The work on spikes, where Corpsmembers camp closer to project sites for eight straight days, means intense days on the grade and interesting tasks back at camp.

Spike Experience

A spike, where Corpsmembers camp closer to project sites, provides Corpsmembers with the unique experience of staffing the camp and serving as cook for the crew.
