Los Angeles Corpsmember Marlene Torres uses a chain saw to remove limbs off of a dead tree in Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area in the Baldwin Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The views are downright breathtaking. The threat of wildfire engulfing the scenic oasis in the heart of Los Angeles, may also catch your breath.

In the Baldwin Hills neighborhood, Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area stands out as a great place to recreate and explore.

Thanks to the hard work of CCC Los Angeles Corpsmembers, it’s becoming an even safer place.

Ringed by homes on its north and east sides, the threat of a spark turning into an inferno is a real one. Corpsmembers, however, can already see the impact they’re having.

The project is a collaboration between the California Conservation Corps, Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation which manages the park, and the Baldwin Hills & Urban Watersheds Conservancy.
