Ribbon Cutting

With the help of some very large scissors, the CCC Mendocino Center officially opens.

The California Conservation Corps Mendocino Center is officially open. On Friday, September 26, CCC Corpsmembers, staff, community partners, and members of the public gathered at the 27-acre property in Willits to celebrate the occasion and tour the new facilities.

Amenities include an education building where young adults can advance their development, a large warehouse to store tools and equipment, a spacious kitchen and dining hall for gaining proper nutrition, a recreation building, as well as seven modern dormitories which can house as many as of 85 Corpsmembers.

“This new residential center will serve our Corpsmembers now and the many generations of Corpsmembers to come,” said CCC Senior Deputy Director Sloane Viola. “The CCC proudly supports Mendocino County and North Coast region with this significant investment in infrastructure and housing. We are committed to putting young adults on a pathway for careers focused on conserving and protecting California’s natural resources.”

It’s a great hub for young adults in the CCC to get paid to train, serve the local community, and find their path to success. Opportunities available at the center include culinary, emergency response, habitat restoration, resource conservation, trails, veterans fisheries, and wildland firefighting training.

By developing impactful project partnerships and empowering the next generation of conservation professionals, the CCC Mendocino Center is opening doors in more ways than one. It provides a strong foundation for collaboration, learning, and impact.
