Upward Path
Fresno Center Corpsmembers utilize their experience on the Mid Valley 1 fire crew to find careers with CAL FIRE and other fire agencies.
Hiking up steep inclines. Swinging hand tools into thick brush. Building their own path to careers in the fire service.
It’s just another day with the CCC Fresno fire crew, known as Mid Valley 1.
For these young adults, it’s more than just another day’s work.
Readiness Drill
Fresno Corpsmembers put their skills to the test as part of their annual readiness drill near Tollhouse, CA. An annual requirement, it demonstrates how crews are ready for fire season.
In the CCC fire program, they’re getting the opportunity to put their minds and bodies to the test, gain hands-on experience, and leave with certifications, credentials, and—yes—careers.
They’re also getting the chance to make a difference in the very same communities they call home in Fresno County and across the Central Valley and the state.

Hard Work
The work of a wildland firefighter is by no means easy. Fresno Corpsmember Jonathan Verduzco works through the difficult terrain and thick vegetation as the lead sawyer for Mid Valley 1.
