Placer Center Corpsmember Graham Fuller prepares to use a chainsaw to remove trees, brush and other overgrowth to create a shaded fuel break near Colfax, CA.

Difficult terrain, back breaking work, long days in hot sun, and yet not a single complaint. That’s because it’s work wildland firefighter Corpsmembers from CCC’s Placer Center know could help save lives and homes.

The job is to build a fire break near the town of Colfax – one of the state’s highest priority areas for protection from wildland fires.

They also know at any moment they could get called away to fight fire in another part of the state. So, they work through the heat and sweat to get this job done, and fast.
