Bunker Gulch Salmon Restoration Project

Ukiah Corpsmembers set up and use grip hoists to lift and maneuver large tree trunks and roots in creeks and streams to create pools for Coho Salmon.

If you’ve ever wondered why someone put logs, with bolts and plates, into a California stream, here’s your answer why.

It’s part of a Salmon Restoration Project. And these projects are CCC Ukiah Corpsmembers’ bread and butter.

It’s no easy task, requiring grip hoists, drills, and a whole lot of patience.

Crews work hard alongside Mendocino Land Trust—often in very secluded areas—to help revive the Coho Salmon population.
