Backcountry Trails & Save the Sierra Accepting Applications

Los Padres Center Corpsmembers cut through a downed tree trunk to create a safe escape route to fell additional trees in Kings Canyon National Park as part of Save the Sierra.

The CCC Backcountry Trails Program (BCTP) and Save the Sierra are both accepting applications for their 2020 seasons.

BCTP is a five-plus month commitment to intense work in miserable living conditions for minimal pay. It is not a paid vacation. Crews live and work off the grid in remote locations doing trail work by hand.

Visit the BCTP webpage to learn more about the program and how to apply. Applications were due on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.

Save the Sierra is a year-long program committed to removing dead and dying hazard trees in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Crews are based at the CCC Los Padres, Tahoe and Fresno centers. Save the Sierra crews camp near their work sites for eight day stretches to better reach project locations.

Visit the Save the Sierra webpage to learn more about the program. Applications were due on Monday, December 16, 2019.
