Before applicants become members of the California Conservation Corps, their experience begins with a Basic Orientation and Training. This training is called COMET or the Corpsmember Orientation, Motivation, Education and Training. Once trainees complete the COMET session, they're ready to be assigned to one of many project crews.
In addition to learning basic work skills, the CCC offers a Core Training Program throughout a corpsmember’s stay. Required trainings include Conservation Awareness, Career Development Training, Work Maturity Skills Training, as well as Community Service and Volunteerism.
The CCC also offers Specialized Training in job-specific areas that enhance a corpsmember’s learning opportunity and skill level. These trainings are offered during the work day and in the evenings. These specialized courses provide a deeper understanding and skill development, complementing what is learned through the “on-the-job” training.
