Education and Training

 

The young men and women in the CCC work hard in becoming stronger citizens and individuals through their service in the Corps.  All corpsmembers advance their education as they work in the CCC.  Many complete the requirements for a GED or high school diploma. Others earn scholarships for additional technical training and college. On-the-job training and the skills acquired on CCC projects create a foundation for a successful pathway to education and training.

Training
The CCC offers many different types of training. The CCC experience begins with a Basic Orientation and Training. Once complete, members are assigned to project crews and begin the CCC’s Core Training Program. The CCC also offers Specialized Training in job-specific areas that enhance a Corpsmember’s learning opportunity and skill level.
Education
When corpsmembers enter the CCC, they are expected to advance their education in the CCC’s education program. Corpsmembers are required to complete a standard academic assessment, work towards a high school diploma and to attend other advanced courses after the workday.

Career Pathways
One of the ongoing goals within the CCC is to develop career pathways for corpsmembers to better enable their successful transition from the CCC. CCC Career Pathways consists of project work, education and training in specific career paths leading to related occupational options.

Scholarship
Corpsmembers can simultaneously earn two types of scholarships – the CCC Scholarship and the Corps Networks AmeriCorps Education Award. Both scholarships help them to get the training and education they need for the job, career, or other endeavor of their choice.

Member Resources
The CCC program provides corpsmembers with Program Resources that complement the corps work experience and education. In addition, corpsmembers have many opportunities to link their education and experience to future education and employment.
